The headquarters of Symposia Organizzazione Congressi is located in the historic Palazzo del Melograno in Campetto, Genoa.

The palace, subjected to artistic protection by the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental Heritage and attributed to Bartolomeo Bianco, was actually built by master Jacopo De Aggio between 1586 and 1589 for Ottavio Imperiale.

It was later purchased by Ottavio Sauli, and then passed to the De Mari and Casareto families. The palace preserves works of art of absolute quality, such as the frescoes on the main floor executed by Domenico Piola, Domenico Guidobono, Jacopo Antonio Boni, and Marco Sacconi.

From this long history the palace inherited its official name, Casareto – De Mari, but as early as the seventeenth century it was better known by another appellation, still in use today, “Pomegranate Palace.”

By a fortuitous chance, about four hundred years ago, a pomegranate seed landed between the second floor balcony and the tympanum of the main entrance. There it found a favorable environment and grew, season after season, transforming into a tree.

Today that pomegranate still blooms, nestled among the marbles of a sumptuous palace. The tenacity with which the plant, a symbol of prosperity, has traversed the city’s history, marvels and encourages us to always move forward.
